The Power of Collaboration: Transform your Organization with Social Media " with Tony Bingham

Program Description:

Today, the majority of learning within organizations is informal and often occurs simply by asking people how to do things. Social media provide an exciting and cost-efficient way to facilitate and capture this informal learning.  When social media is effectively utilized, the organization's learning function is better able to positively impact and track its talent development initiatives.  Indeed, understanding how to implement and leverage today's collaborative learning technologies is a vital strategic advantage for businesses of all sizes and disciplines.

In this thought-provoking session, Tony Bingham, President and CEO of the Association for Talent Development, will illustrate how several diverse organizations are using social media to develop their talent, support informal learning, and build community.  Whether you're a social media expert or novice, you'll leave with valuable insights and ideas for applying the power of collaborative technologies within your own organization. Don't miss it!

ATD-PHL is also hosting a private Meet & Greet with Tony from 4:30pm-5:30pm.  To register for this portion of the event, select the "yes" option to the Meet & Greet.  The cost is $20 and it will be added to your registration cost.  Space is limited, register today!

About the Speaker:

Tony Bingham is a leader who builds and retains high-performing teams that deliver extraordinary results through disciplined and measurable human capital, operational, and technological solutions. As President and CEO of the Association for Talent Development, formerly ASTD, the world’s largest professional association dedicated to those who develop talent in organizations, Tony works with a staff of 120, a Board of Directors, and a world-wide volunteer network to empower professionals to develop knowledge and skills successfully.

Tony is passionate about strategic business, learning, and technology. He is focused on helping ATD members and learning professionals lead the development of talent in their organizations, build their business skills, understand the impact of social media on informal learning, close skills gaps, and demonstrate the impact of learning on business results. As the co-author of The New Social Learning, he and Marcia Conner offer compelling evidence on how to transform learning using social media. Tony also co-authored Presenting Learning with Tony Jeary to help learning professionals persuasively articulate the business case for learning and position themselves as strategic business partners.

To better serve the profession, Tony ensures that ATD is at the forefront of trends in training and talent development and offers programs and services to help members improve individual and organizational performance through learning. ATD is frequently quoted about these trends and its own research in top-tier business publications such as BusinessWeek, the Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

In 2009, under Tony’s direction, ATD expanded its reach with the acquisitions of The Bureaucrat, Inc. and its quarterly journal, The Public Manager, and the United Professional Sales Association (UPSA). These affiliations help ATD to spotlight the value of learning and its impact on achieving results in the public sector and professional sales field. ATD’s 125 domestic chapters and international strategic partners provide opportunities for members to convene at the local and regional levels throughout the world.

Tony joined ATD in 2001 as the Chief Operating Officer / Chief Information Officer. He became President and CEO in February 2004. Before joining ATD, Tony served as the senior vice president for technology and operations at Britannica.com.
