If a SIG or GIG event is canceled, we will send an email to all registrants letting them know. If an event needs to be postponed, you will remain registered for the event.  If you can't make the new date, email info@tdphl.org, and ATD-PHL will credit your registration fee to your account to be used at a future event in the same programming year.

    As founder of Q&A Thought Partners, Qawi is a multi-disciplined Strategy Consultant and Executive Coach with a track record of achievement through more than 20 years of value-centered leadership, mentorship, and coaching in corporate, government, and non-for-profit business sectors as an employee and elected official. Qawi serves on various community and professional boards focused on educational opportunity, professional and economic development, adapting to change, and building sustainable community relationships. Some notable organizations of experience include Willis Towers Watson, Hewlett Packard, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), The State of New Jersey, US Department of Commerce, President of the Board of Education, and Year Up. 

    Education

    Qawi is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Rutgers University and currently has a research focus organizational behavior, organizational culture, emotions, diversity & inclusion, and ethics. Qawi holds certifications in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in the Workplace, Ethical and Inclusive Leadership, Project Management Professional (PMP), Training & Facilitation, and Consulting.


    ATD Greater Philadelphia Chapter programs are pre-approved by the ATD Certification Institute for continuing education credits.  These credits are based on the ATD Capability Model and may be applied towards initial eligibility and recertification for Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) and Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) credentials.

    Welcome to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of ATD!

    Get to know your ATD Greater Philadelphia Chapter! This session is for new members and potential members as an introduction to our local chapter. 

    This session will be a comprehensive overview of what your membership includes, how can you get the most out of your membership, and a review of overall member benefits. We’ll go over the current Board of Directors and other volunteers, how we plan and schedule events, volunteer needs and options, along with networking opportunities and more. 

    Bring your questions and meet other new members. We also encourage you to invite your colleagues and potential new members to join and see what they’re missing.

    Dr. Shawn L. Roberts is a seasoned executive with over 15 years of senior-level operations experience spanning various industries, including business, healthcare, and education. As the VP and Chief Inclusion Officer at ApTask, a global staffing and workforce solutions company, Dr. Roberts is pivotal in overseeing the company's comprehensive portfolio of workforce solutions designed to enhance and optimize business talent management strategies. Additionally, Dr. Roberts spearheads developing and implementing innovative Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies in client partner organizations. His leadership will drive ApTask's mission to create inclusive, equitable, and sustainable workforce solutions that meet the evolving needs of businesses worldwide.

    John Moeller served as a chef under three First Families – Presidents George H.W. Bush Bill Clinton and George H. Bush. Currently, along with his wife, John owns and manages the Greenfield Restaurant & Bar in Lancaster, PA. In addition to the Greenfield Restaurant, John also owns his own catering business: State of Affairs Catering. 

    John grew up in Lancaster County. He studied food training at Lancaster County Career & Technology Center, Willow Street Campus and worked in area hotels and restaurants before getting his culinary degree at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island.  

    John traveled much as many chefs do with stops in Boston, Paris, the Virgin Islands and Washington, D.C. Along the way, John networked. And when a colleague of his became the White House chef and asked him to sign up as sous chef, he jumped at the chance.

    George Anastasia is an American author and former writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer. He is widely considered to be an expert on the American Mafia. He was an organized crime investigative reporter, who was once targeted for death by then-Philadelphia crime family boss John Stanfa. 

    George has also been described on a 60 Minutes television profile as "One of the most respected crime reporters in the country." 

    He is an adjunct professor/lecturer at Rowan University where he teaches a course on organized crime and was a lecturer for the U.S. State Department-sponsored series of weeklong seminars on journalism and organized crime in Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, and Italy.

    He is the author of eight books, including The Last Gangster, The Goodfella Tapes and Blood and Honor, which Jimmy Breslin called "the best gangster book ever written". He also has been featured on several network television news magazine reports about organized crime and has worked as a consultant on projects for ABC, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel and the National Geographic Channel.

    Cherri Gregg is the afternoon drive host/news anchor and co-host of the daily news show Studio 2 on WHYY radio. She is also the executive producer and host of The Good Souls Project, WHYY’s effort to highlight individuals serving as role models for compassion, generosity, and service.   

    Prior to her current position, the award-winning journalist covered civil rights, social justice, race, and public affairs issues impacting marginalized communities, spending nearly a decade on air at KYW Newsradio. She served as the station’s Community Affairs reporter and was the creator, host and executive producer of the weekly, syndicated radio show and podcast, Flashpoint with Cherri Gregg. Under her leadership, the show earned two regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, a NABJ Salute to Excellence Award for Best Podcast and a Pennsylvania Bar Association Media Award all in 2021.   

    Cherri, who is also a licensed attorney, is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Law & Justice Journalism Project, a non-profit focused on shifting the journalism narrative around public safety, crime and justice. She is also the founder of Create Genius Media, LLC, an ideas focused firm. Its mission is to expose injustice, educate and empower communities. Cherri is a past president of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists and named one of city’s most influential Black women by the Philadelphia NAACP.

    Nick Bayer is the Founder & CEO of Saxbys, a Certified B Corporation and pioneering Education company – disguised as a coffee company – empowering and supporting the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs through experiential learning. From its 30+ cafes to its headquarters, Saxbys’ mission to “Make Life Better” and core values are imperative to the business and guest experience, especially as it launched and grew The Saxbys Experiential Learning Platform® (The Saxbys ELP).  

    Beyond Saxbys, Nick holds several leadership positions in higher education and in the Philadelphia community. He is currently an Entrepreneur in Residence at Cornell University–his alma mater, an adjunct professor at Drexel University and an Executive in Residence at Temple University's Fox School of Business. Nick also serves on many boards, including The Franklin Institute, the Community College of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations. 

    Nick has been named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" by EY, and one of the “100 Most Powerful Business Leaders in Philadelphia” by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

    Phillip Dutton is a seven-time Olympian and a dual Olympic gold medalist in eventing who formerly competed for Australia, his country of birth, then later for the USA. 

    Phillip grew up with horses on his family’s sheep and wheat farm. Most of his childhood and teenage years were spent competing at Pony Club rallies and horse trials. He continued to pursue his passion for riding while studying in Sydney at Newington College and later at Agricultural College. 

    Phillip moved to the United States in 1991 to train in a more internationally competitive environment and to prepare for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, where he rode on Australia’s gold medal eventing team. In total, Phillip represented Australia in three Olympics, and four World Championships after his move to the U.S. 

    In 2007 Phillip changed his nationality to become a US citizen and be able to represent America. Since then he represented the US at the Pan Am games, winning the team Gold and individual Silver at Rio and at the Olympics in China/ London/ Rio and Tokyo, winning an individual Bronze in Rio. He’s been the leading US rider for 13 years and continues to compete and ride. 

    Phillip dedicates much of his time to coaching other riders, including many adult amateurs and a number of the USEF Eventing High Performance riders. In 2009, Phillip was voted the Developing Rider Coach of the Year. He and his wife, Evie, manage and train out of True Prospect Farm in West Grove, Pennsylvania, and at their Buck Ridge Farm in Loxahatchee, Florida.

    Dr. George M. Schwartz is an Associate Professor and Director of the Undergraduate Program in Emergency Management at Immaculata University, where he received his Ed.D. in Higher Education. He is currently serving as a Visiting Professor at the United State Army War College.  

    George has a broad professional background that includes active and reserve service in the US Army, human resource management with Fortune 500 companies, and higher education. He has taught courses in emergency management and leadership, as well as written and presented on such subjects as crisis leadership, cybersecurity, and training management.  

    Before retiring as a Brigadier General in the Army National Guard, George served in a number of senior leader positions and ended his military career as an Assistant Adjutant General for Pennsylvania and as the Deputy Commandant for Reserve Affairs at the US Army War College. During his military career he commanded troops and directed operations in Europe, Kosovo and Afghanistan, and managed National Guard emergency response efforts during several natural disasters in the Commonwealth.
