The main objective of this kickoff meeting will be to hear from participants what they would like from the Consulting SIG to help them address their challenges in carrying out consulting activities, whether external or internal to their organization.

In our kickoff meeting Mike Lovell will give a brief introduction to the purpose and objectives of the Consulting SIG and the value that it will offer participants in the unsettled new world of post-pandemic workplaces and the emergence of highly disruptive new technologies such as AI, AR, and IoT.

Diane Bauman will facilitate small-group breakout sessions

Following the discussion time (about 40 minutes) team spokespeople will report back on the main outcomes of their discussions.

Speaker Bios:

Mike Lovell | Founder

In mid-career I left a senior line-management position as Commercial Systems Controller for a large Power Generating Company and took a leap-of-faith into the world of consulting.

Over the next twenty years I built and led successful consulting practices for several international consulting companies. This experience includes Public Utilities, airlines, banking, postal services and the public sector.

My consulting career opened the door to a world of possibilities and career experiences that went way beyond what any single regular job could ever have offered.

“one of the things that I love about consulting is the opportunity to do interesting things with interesting people.”

Right now, as the world is figuring out what is the new normal, many people are reevaluating their priorities. They are looking at consulting as a way of doing work that they enjoy—work that is meaningful and that makes a difference.

The Consulting SIG (C-SIG) will give people with an interest in consulting an opportunity to learn more about how consulting works. Whether you are working as an internal or external consultant, the C-SIG will give opportunities for networking and sharing their experiences with others and for discovering ways that consulting can expand their career horizons.
