Welcome to the Pennsylvania Executive Education Series sponsored by your ATD chapter.  Every 2nd Wednesday of the month we'll be presenting a thought leader in executive education coming from our most prestigious academic institutions and organizations across the state.

These events are intended for organizational leaders who view talent management, organizational development and training from the C-suite impact.  If you're a leader in your organization, network with like minded individuals and learn how others in similar roles are driving talent in their organizations.

Wednesday, March 10th--> Michael Platt, Phd

Michael L. Platt - Wharton School Press

Session Description:

Dr. Michael Platt, a pioneering neuroscientist, will reveal how brain science can transform our thinking about leadership, team-building, decision-making, innovation, marketing, and business.

Through his innovative research, Dr. Platt has deepened our understanding of how key areas of the brain work and how this can be applied in business settings. He details how we can become better leaders and the implications for leadership development, even when we are already natural relationship builders, master negotiators and persuaders, and agile and strategic thinkers.

Neuroscience is providing answers to many of leadership’s most vexing challenges. Dr. Platt will share the latest research on:

  • Why two leaders, when presented with the same set of information, make very different decisions.
  • Why some companies (Apple) build strong social and emotional connections with the customers and others do not (Samsung).
  • How some of the most significant events in sports history, like the “Miracle on Ice,” contain insights for how to build a team.
  • Why even some of the most visionary business leaders can make disastrous decisions, and how to avoid that.

In an ever-shifting world, these insights have crucial implications for leadership development to help enhance leadership skills and capabilities.
