Developing Professional Capabilities focuses on helping leaders and learners understand the value and limitations of personality assessments in the workplace. Participants learn when tools such as DISC are appropriate for supporting communication and collaboration, how to use assessment results to facilitate meaningful conversations rather than reinforce stereotypes, and how to translate insights into practical actions that improve team effectiveness. The program also addresses common misuses of personality assessments and provides guidance for maintaining their credibility and impact with clients and participants.

In this session, participants will learn more about Developing Professional Capabilities:

  1. Describe what personality assessments can, and cannot, tell us about workplace behavior.
  2. Evaluate when DISC and similar assessments are appropriate interventions and when they aren’t.
  3. Use assessment results to have productive conversations rather than reinforce stereotypes.
  4. Help leaders and learners translate assessment insights into practical actions that improve communication and collaboration.
  5. Avoid common pitfalls that cause personality assessments to lose credibility with clients and participants.
